Material Calculator (For All Products Purchased by the Cubic Yard)
Estimating the amount of mulch, woodchips, limestone or other product
needed is easy using our product calculator.
Simply measure the length and width of the area you want to cover.
The easiest way to measure is to step off
the distances and convert your steps to feet (a normal
step is about 2.5-3 feet for most people, so 20 steps
would equal about 60 feet). To
determine square footage, multiply the length of the
area by the width of the area. Using mulch beds as an example:
Mulch
Bed 1: ( 60 ft. x 10 ft. ) = 600 sq/ft
Mulch Bed 2: ( 30
ft. x 12 ft. ) = 360 sq/ft
960 total sq/ft
Now just plug your square footage and
your desired mulch bed depth into the product calculator
below to determine how many cubic yards of mulch you'll
need.

How it Works (Do the Math):
1.
If you wanted to cover the area with 2 inches in depth the
formula would be:
Mulch
Bed 1: ( 60 ft. x 10 ft. ) = 600
sq/ft
Mulch Bed 2:
( 30 ft. x 12 ft. ) = 360 sq/ft
960 total sq/ft
2.
Then divide the square footage (960) by the depth factor
for your desired depth.
*162
(depth factor for 2 inches of mulch) = roughly 6 total yards
needed
